FAQ - Renewal of Photocard Driving Licence For Foreigners
Where can I renew my Photocard driving licence?
You may only renew your driving licence personally at the Traffic Police Headquarters at No.10 Ubi Ave 3, Singapore 408865.
What do I need to bring when renewing my licence?
You need to bring along your passport, licence that is to expire, documents proving your stay in Singapore and a passport size color photograph with white background and a processing fee of $50.
Can I renew my Photocard driving licence when I am abroad?
Please note that if you are not driving whilst abroad, you need not renew it upon expiry. You can renew it when you return to Singapore, provided it has not lapsed for more than three years from the date of expiry.
Can I apply for early renewal of my Photocard driving licence?
Yes, only when there is a valid reason, eg. overseas attachment for a long period. Documentary proof is required.
You need to go to Traffic Police Headquarters at No.10 Ubi Ave 3, Singapore 408865, personally to apply for early renewal.
Is there any age limit for a particular class of driving licence?
Except for classes 4A, 4 & 5, there is no age limit for other classes of driving licences. The statutory upper age limit for classes 4A , 4 &5 licences is 70 .
The following licence holders must be certified medically fit to drive by a Registered Medical Practitioner in Singapore, at any local private clinic or Government Polyclinic .
1) Class 2B, 2A, 2 , 3A & 3 licences holders, who are to reach 65 years old ( as of date of birth ) and every 3 years thereafter ( i.e. 68, 71, 74, 77 etc ),
2) Class 4A, 4 & 5 driving licence holders, will need to take a medical examination annually, as well as a driving proficiency test before attaining 65 years old and there after (i.e. 66, 67, 68, 69).
Licence holders will be notified by post 2 months before their date of birth to go for their medical checkup. They are advised to submit their medical report before their respective birth dates in order not to cause their licence to be revoked.
Those who choses to surrender their licence or cancel a particular class of licence, (e.g. retain class 3 and cancel class 2, 4 or 5) may do so only at the Traffic Police Department at 10 Ubi Avenue 3. Surrendering and cancelling of licence requires endorsement on the licence and therefore must be done at our office.
