Traffic Permits
Term Permit
Term Permit is required when:
- Overall height of the vehicle with load, measured from the surface of the road, is between 4 metres and 4.3 metres.
- For Standard Containers (only) with overall height, measured from the surface of the road, not exceeding 4.42 metres.
You do not require any CISCO escorts while travelling on the road with the above stated conditions.
Trip Permit
Trip Permit is required when the overall height of your vehicle with load, measured from the surface of the road, exceeds 4.3 metres. Under such condition, you will need to apply to CISCO HQ for Escort Duty during the course of your journey.
Authorisation Permit
Authorisation Permit is required when:
- The rear overhang of load does not exceeds 40% of the vehicle or 1.8 metres which ever is lesser.
- Overall width of the vehicle with loads exceeds 2.6 metres.
You will need to have CISCO Escort Duty during the course of your journey.
Expressway Permit
Expressway Permit is required if you are transporting an excluded vehicle. Vehicles categorised as excluded vehicles are as follows:

bicycles;

tricycles;
-
trishaws;
-
motor-cycles with side cars attached;
-
invalid carriages;
-
three-wheeled vans;
-
low trailers;
-
road rollers;
-
ready-mix concrete trucks;
-
mobile cranes;
-
forklifts;
-
excavators;
-
road pavers;
-
tractors;
-
dumpers;
-
wheel loaders;
-
bulldozers;
-
graders;
-
mobile concrete pumps;
-
hydrant dispensers;
-
motor vehicles with any of the wheels fitted with neither a pneumatic tyre nor a solid rubber tyre; and
-
any other motor vehicle where the maximum speed at which it may be driven on any road under the Road Traffic (Regulation of Speed) Rules is 40 kilometres per hour.
Procedure
You will need to apply to the Traffic Police for the specific permit required based on your vehicle's length, height and width.
Application for the above permits can be made by completing and faxing the relevant application form to the Height Permit Office at Fax No: 6748 7443. For more information or for an application form to be faxed to you, you can contact the Height Permit Officer at Tel: 6547 6287 during office hours. Application for the various traffic permits should reach Traffic Police three working days ahead of the proposed date of travel.
Upon successful processing of your application, the Traffic Police will fax the approved form back to you.
There will be no fee charged for application of the Traffic Permits.
