Safety Advice

Horn Carefully

Horn to WARN others of danger and NOT to express your frustration. Horning unnecessarily may ALARM or ANGER other road users into making unpredictable moves which may lead to accidents.

Don’t Jump Queue

This causes unnecessary frustration especially in a traffic jam and only worsens the situation. Give way to oncoming vehicles turning on and off the main road.

Apologise And Forgive

Raise your hand to APOLOGISE when you make a mistake. If the other party apologises, show your ACCEPTANCE by acknowledging his gesture.

Never Drive On Shoulders

Road shoulders are strictly for EMERGENCIES Driving on them to avoid traffic congestion has led to serious accidents. Don’t take the risk!

Don’t Tailgate

Tailgating is DANGEROUS! Tailgating makes the driver in front nervous and gives you LESS TIME TO REACT if the vehicle in front slows down or brakes suddenly. Keep a safe following distance. Do not harass the vehicle in front by tailgating.

Don’t Road Hog

Road hogs hold up traffic and frustrate other motorists! Don’t be distracted by what’s happening on the other side of the road. Pay attention to the road ahead. Always give way by keeping to the left unless overtaking, especially on expressways. The extreme right lane of expressways should be kept free for overtaking or emergency vehicles. Always give way by using left lanes.

Signal Early

Signalling late or not at all is DANGEROUS! It is essential to ALERT other road users of your intentions EARLY to prevent traffic accidents. Just as important, make sure you TURN OFF your signal after use to avoid confusion. Give advance warning to alert other road users of your intentions. Remember, late signalling may confuse other drivers and cause accident.

Be Patient

Never lose your "COOL" on the road. Plan your journey and leave early to AVOID RUSHING. Do not use provocative gestures and language against other motorists and avoid direct confrontation.
