Information - Driver Improvement Points System (DIPS)
The Road Traffic (Driver Improvement Points System) Rules was introduced in March 1983 for Singapore licence holders. It was extended to foreign driving licence holders on 1 Nov 99. It is designed to identify high-risk motorists or habitual offenders and to stop them from driving for a specified period of time. The system also requires recalcitrant offenders suspended for one year or longer to re-sit and pass a driving test before they are allowed to drive again.
The objective of extending DIPS to all users of Singapore roads whether Singapore driving licence holder or foreign driving licence holders is to create a safer riding and driving environment for all.
